The countdown to Carnaval is on – only 15 days left to EEDS’ Carnaval celebration! Leading up to the event, we will be introducing some of the new faces of EEDS as well as some of the Carnaval activities you can look forward to. So let us first introduce Reed Flygt, the new executive director of EEDS, and one of our percussion instructors. EEDS CARNAVAL CELEBRATION 2013
In honor of Carnaval this year the Evanston Escola de Samba is having a big celebration and you’re all invited! We have a lot in store for this event, in addition to some great music and dancing, of course. There will be crafts, face painting, dance and drumming lessons and more!
When: February 16th, 2013 from 10am to 12pm
Activities start at 10 AM
Concert Starts at 11 AM
Where: Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston (1490 Chicago Avenue).
How Much: Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids and a $30 maximum per family. $5 With a Student ID.

Some exciting news in the samba world: EEDS, along with the Music Institute of Chicago, will be moving to a fancy new location right in the heart of downtown Evanston, at 1702 Sherman Avenue, in July 2013! With a new rehearsal space and closer access to public transport routes, we’ll have more of a presence in Evanston and Chicago than ever!

Our Fall EEDS class schedule has been released, and we’re excited to welcome back both new and returning students, beginning Wednesday, September 12th. Looking for something fun to do tomorrow? Come see EEDS at the Evanston Ethnic Arts fest Sunday, July 22nd from 12:15-1:15 PM! We will be collaborating with S.O.U.L. Creations for an awesome hour of Afro-Brazilian dance and percussion! The festival is at Dawes Park (Sheridan Road at Church) – we will be at the main stage.
